Yutong Bus Company Eyes Partnership Deal With Metro Mass Transit Limited

A leading Chinese bus and coach manufacturer, Yutong Bus Company Limited, has initiated discussions with Ghana’s premier transport service provider, Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL), to establish a mutually beneficial partnership deal.

With 14 years of operation in Ghana, Yutong has become a household name. The company seeks to supply its robust and energy-efficient buses and coaches as well as after-sales services to augment MMTL’s fleet.

A four-member delegation from Yutong, led by Jimmy Jin, Director of International Marketing, highlighted the advantages of their buses compared to others in the industry. Key features discussed included robustness, energy efficiency, sleek design, environmental friendliness, and anti-rustiness. The other members of the delegation were Jay Shang, David Dai, and Yann He, North and West Africa Account Manager.

During the preliminary discussions held at MMTL’s head office in Accra on Monday, February 17, 2025, officials from both companies deliberated on various aspects, including seating capacity, engine types, air conditioning systems, and the lifespan of Yutong’s buses.

MMTL, led by Deputy Managing Director, of Finance, and Administration, Richard Yangfo, shared operational challenges related to the rugged Ghanaian terrain, fuel efficiency, spare part availability, and technical support for training staff.

Accompanying Mr. Yangfo were Administration Manager Stephen Yeboah and Technical Manager Ebenezer Allotey.

Both companies described the meeting as a “fruitful exercise” and agreed to further discussions, involving additional stakeholders, to explore technicalities, partnership agreements, financials, and payment mechanisms.
